With the end of the 2024 school year approaching and Christmas festivities upon us, we spent some time reflecting on how the spirit of giving is a year-long initiative at St Hilda’s.
At St Hilda’s, we believe rallying together for life-saving foundations, charities, and events fosters the development of deep, meaningful relationships in our School community.
This year, St Hilda’s raised over $100,000 and donated goods and services to various charities, including:
$77,000 raised for research into blood cancer – In June, a record-breaking 79 students and one teacher participated in this year’s World’s Greatest Shave to support the fight against blood cancer. With the help of our loyal and supportive community, we are proud to share that St Hilda’s raised $77, 000 which is an incredible accomplishment.
Over 200kg of work-appropriate clothes donated for women in need – Dress for Success Western Australia plays a vital role in this mission, providing work attire and invaluable job readiness support, career workshops, and a supportive community for women on their journey to self-sufficiency through gainful employment. Through initiatives like these, we’re not just celebrating women’s achievements; we’re actively working to create a more inclusive society where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.
$16,000 donated to the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation to improve the lives of sick children – We are excited to share that the girls doubled last year’s efforts, with the money raised used to help fund change and help transform kids’ healthcare in WA.
One-on-one tutoring during a week-long intensive camp with Teach Learn Grow – We had 24 Year 10 girls dedicate their time to tutoring primary school children, submitting curriculum-related lesson plans, preparing breakfast club, and wrapping presents for Anglicare WA after hours.
Other incredible initiatives St Hilda’s contributed to this year include:
- 35+ completely stocked school backpacks donated to the Anglicare Christmas Appeal.
- $1200 raised for the Royal Flying Doctors Association.
- Over 300 hot meals prepared for Homelessness We Care.
- $30,000 donated to Anglicare WA to support homeless youth.
It’s evident that giving back to the less fortunate is woven into the fabric of the powder blue.
