The beginning of 2019 saw the first stage of the multi-million dollar Boarding House refurbishment completed.
The first stage of the refurbishment included a new reception area, upgraded bathrooms, the creation of an enclosed gym, larger communal spaces for the girls, a transformation of the activity room into a multi-purpose flexible recreation space and end of journey facilities for parents.
“The new spaces make the boarding house so welcoming,” says Director of Boarding at St Hilda’s Rachel Stenslunde.
“Everyone is loving the open common areas to sit together and chat. They love being able to work together at the large kitchen benches during study prep. It’s just so exciting for everyone to now make the space their own.”
The refurbishments are designed to provide the girls with a more comfortable and practical living environment that reflects the everyday feel of home life.
Year 8 St Hilda’s student Ella emphasises that there is “lots of natural lighting which makes it so welcoming to come back to after school.”
Stage 2 of the St Hilda’s Boarding House refurbishments is scheduled for completion in early 2020.
