The course will involve both technical and theoretical components of dance and will build the girls’ skills across a range of dance genres. It has been designed to give girls at all levels an opportunity to build their strength and flexibility, their rhythm and understanding of music, as well as their understanding of dance across cultures.
Over the next few years we will continue to build the program to include Dance as an elective from Year 8 on (2022) and further develop our Dance cocurricular opportunities.
Whilst we have always run a dance program in the Junior School, it has now been extended to include Pre-primary. Girls in Years 4, 5 and 6 will now experience Dance throughout the whole academic year.
This is an exciting new era for St Hilda’s, particularly given we are blessed with a phenomenal performing space at the Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre.
