Pennant winners 2017: Senior B Water Polo Team with Coach Ryan Atkinson
St Hilda’s has finished the year with a splash, taking out the IGSSA Water Polo Champion School title joint with Santa Maria College. After a well contested Junior and Senior competition which saw a high standard of water polo across all divisions, St Hilda’s also won the Junior C and Senior B pennants for their divisions.
“This season the water polo girls played incredibly well together, coming through with an excellent result,” water polo captain and Year 11 student Oliva Sime said.
“This is really impressive even more so because we haven't done this well in water polo for quite a few years.
“Our coaches have been top quality and they continue to push us and encourage us to play to the best of our ability.
“The young girls coming through have so much skill and so much potential that I'm really looking forward to see how they go in their IGSSA matches in 2018.”
Head of Sport, Ms Emme Wild, agreed that St Hilda’s had gone from strength to strength.
“The Junior School Physical Education staff, Ms Wendy Rickarby and Mrs Lara Clarke have played an instrumental role in developing the girls’ passion for both water polo and swimming at an early age and as such, water polo and swimming has been incredibly popular and successful across the whole school,” she said.
“My thanks also to Mrs Clare Hart and to Miss Zoe Timmers for their input into the Senior School program.
“We’re looking forward to continued success in 2018.”
