St Hilda’s races ahead

Wednesday 15 March

St Hilda’s is continuing to make IGSSA history, winning the 53rd IGSSA Annual Swimming Carnival for the sixth year in a row and now has the most swimming titles of the independent girls’ schools. Iona finished in second place and Santa Maria in third in what was a very competitive swim meet.

The 2017 squad equaled the winning streak set by the School in the 1970s where, between 1970 and 1975, St Hilda’s won the title six consecutive years.

Not only did St Hilda’s take out the Boans Trophy but the girls won a number of Year Group pennants including Year 9, Year 11 and Year 12.

Many of St Hilda’s swimmers swam personal best times, including Swimming Captain Chloe Jones who broke an IGSSA record in the Year 12 second division freestyle: the record was held by a St Hilda’s swimmer from 2008.
