Compulsory Curriculum Program - Year 9

Year 9 Outdoor Education Program 2018

School departure – Sunday 18 March at 7.30 am
School return – Friday 23 March at 3pm

The coaches will depart from and return to the Bay View Terrace bus bays. Please arrive fifteen minutes prior to departure and pick up.

The program takes place in the Greater Walpole Wilderness area and includes the D'Entrecasteaux National Park and the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. Included in these areas is the Bibbulmun track as well as the Broke and Nornalup inlets.

The Year 9 program is a five night six day expedition. Students will walk and paddle in groups between campsites each day. They will carry the majority of their food, tents and equipment in school issue back-packs.

The program builds on outdoor learning areas established during the Year 8 Outdoor Education experience and is a lead on to the Year 10 Outdoor Education Odyssey in 2019.  The expedition will focus on creating a wonderful experience with friends and having time to enjoy the spectacular natural environment of the south west coast.

In addition, the students will be taught and develop a range of outdoor skills including navigation, expedition-style camping techniques, paddling and camp cooking skills.

Accommodation and Groups

Students will attend in mixed groups. They will stay in two or three person hiking tents throughout the expedition. Groups and tent partners will be arranged on camp.
