Compulsory Curriculum Program - Year 4

Year 4 Outdoor Education Day

Under the direction of the St Hilda’s Outdoor Education department the Year 4 program is a fun filled day in the Outdoors, held on Thursday 5 November 2020.

Continuing on with the theme from Year 3, the students are encouraged to learn through investigation and exploration to help develop their level of comfort and knowledge of the Australian outdoors.

Students will be split into groups and will participate in the following activities:

  • Learning basic snorkelling skills in the St Hilda’s Pool
  • Interactive Australian Animal Encounter provided by Redz Zoo
  • Bay View Map and Clue Adventure based around the Senior Campus to Manners Hill Park
  • Beachcombing along the Swan River in Mosman Bay
  • Introductory kayaking session in Freshwater / Mosman Bay

Program Date: Thursday 5 November 2020

Drop Off: By 7.55 am at Senior School Campus, Bay View drive through

Pick Up: 3.45 pm at Manner Hill Park, Peppermint Grove

Parent drop off at the Senior School campus via the Bay View drive through from 7.40am. Junior School Staff will be there to supervise drop off. 

Parent pick up from Manners Hill Park Pavilion at 3.45pm. Junior School Staff will be there to supervise pick up. Students not collected by 3.50pm will be taken to the Junior School for collection from Extend-ED.  

Food: Recess and lunch will be provided. Students with dietary requirements listed on the Schools medical database will be catered for. Students are required to bring a full water bottle with them.

Transport: Students will be transported around the activities on the School Buses.

Staff / Supervision: Students will be split into groups. Each group will have a Junior School Staff member and an Outdoor Education instructor. St Hilda’s Outdoor Education staff will be overseeing the day, the snorkelling and kayaking sessions.

What to wear: PE uniform for the day which includes: Tracksuit top, PE blue shirt, shorts, school sneakers and blue PE socks. Students will also need to pack their hat, sunscreen, St Hilda’s bathers, rashie, towel and shoes that can be worn in the water in their PE bag
