The Naked Scientist

Murdoch University will be hosting Dr Chris Smith, BBC's Naked Scientist, and his live and explosive chemistry show. Dr Chris Smith is a medical consultant specialising in clinical microbiology and virology at Cambridge University and its teaching hospital, Addenbrooke’s. He is also a Fellow of Queens’ College, Cambridge.

Million Paws Walk

RSCPA’s Million Paws Walk is taking place on Sunday May 21 in South Perth. With distances of 1km, 2.5km and 5km, this family friendly event is suitable for people of all ages, and dogs of all sizes!

On the day, you and your four-legged friend will be treated to entertainment, displays, stalls, giveaways and a host of other fun activities. You could even meet an RSPCA Inspector and some dogs that are currently looking for their forever home.

Breast Awareness and Injury Prevention

In collaboration with a team of physiotherapists and a strength and conditioning coach with a Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Health) and Masters in Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning), PEGY has developed product knowledge, experience and fitting expertise and tailored a packaged of valuable information for teens and women in relation to breast awareness, injury prevention and sports bra fitting guidelines.  PEGY offer information sessions and professional fitting services for teens and women to encourage and support them in their pursuits of sporting activities, general fitness, health and well-being in achieving active healthy lives.

Talking Drugs Information Session

Parents, teachers and school staff have a crucial role to play in the prevention of young people’s risk of harm from alcohol and other drugs. School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA) and MLC are hosting a FREE Talking Drugs information session to help parents understand the role they play in school drug education. Parents will learn the real picture of illicit drug use and how to open up a dialogue with their children about drugs.

UWA-Nedlands FC: Under 17s Girls Soccer Tryouts

UWA-Nedlands FC is a soccer club based in the Western Suburbs of Perth. Trent Pagnozzi has recently been appointed as the Under 17s girls team coach for UWA Nedlands FC. The team trains at Mount Claremont Oval every Wednesday evening 6pm - 7:30pm and games are every Sunday. Trent coached the St Hilda’s Junior A Soccer Team in 2016, as well as Athletics sprints, and will be coaching the St Hilda’s Year 7/8 A Soccer Team in 2017.

Engaging Adolescents Parent Workshops

Behaviour Tonics in Wembley is running Engaging Adolescents – parenting skills for resolving teenage behaviour problems. Running over two 2.45 hour sessions it is full of information, tips and practical strategies. 
When: Wednesday evenings of 14 & 21 June.
Time: 6.45pm – 9.30pm
Fee: $150pp or $270 for 2.

Free Fitness Sessions

Girls between the age of 12 and 19 are eligible for a month of free fitness sessions through the Girls Make Your Move program, sponsored by the Federal Government. The sessions will be available at YMCA Health and Fitness Centres: click here to find your nearest one. More information about the program can be seen here. The program is running until the end of June. 

Junior Biologists Wanted!

WA Maritime Museum is the place to be for junior biologists this school holidays! Students can get up close and personal with a squid without getting wet on Wednesday 19 April and have a closer look at all the slimy parts that make up this amazing mollusc. With their very own dissection equipment, students will be able to identify many different parts of this fascinating marine animal. Limited places available: bookings essential.

Asthma and Food Allergy Forum

The Asthma Foundation WA is running a parent forum on Monday 1 May from 6pm to 7.30pm at the Rivervale Community Centre, with presentations from the Asthma Foundation WA and Princess Margaret Hospital. For more information click here

Exercise Therapy

The Exercise Therapist runs two junior programs: Breathe Easy, for mindfulness, and Adolescent Strength and Conditioning. It is also running workshops for staff and students on the impact of mindfulness and exercise on anxiety and mental health for the youth. 

The FunPad

The FunPad is a brand new, clean and hygienic mobile soft play centre/jungle gym. Fitted out in a fully refurbished double decker bus, the FunPad’s equipment provides hours of fun for children aged 3-12 years. 

Streetsteps

Vogue Performers
