Our esteemed Wandering Spirit program is a year-long initiative for Year 9 girls designed to foster self-discovery, connection with the environment and community, and personal aspirations for the future. It’s a celebration of identity, authenticity, excellence and creativity, offering students the chance to flourish, excel, grow, bond, and take initiative.

Our Wandering Spirit program is more relevant and crucial than ever. Our girls face a whirlwind of activities and challenges as they navigate their teenage years. Balancing the intricacies of friendships, family dynamics, a packed calendar, navigating technology, and the quest for autonomy can be overwhelming. During this pivotal time, the Wandering Spirit program gently introduces strategies for the girls to maintain their physical, emotional, social, mental, and spiritual well-being.

“Wandering Spirit is not just about navigating the wilderness; it’s about navigating the unexplored territories within yourselves,” says Daviegh-Delilah, a Year 10 student who undertook the Wandering Spirit program last year in Year 9.

We spoke to Daviegh-Delilah about her Wandering Spirit experience and asked her what advice she would give the current Year 9 girls about the program.

“First and foremost, my fellow wanderers, approach every experience with an open mind. The vast canvas of possibilities and the colours you choose to paint with will define your journey. Embrace the unknown, relish the unexpected, and savour the moments that surprise you. Life is an adventure, and this camp is your chance to write a chapter that is uniquely yours.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room—the absence of technology. Yes, it’s true—there is no Netflix, constant notifications, or virtual world to escape into. Instead of mourning the loss, I advise making the most of this tech-free zone. Look around, engage with the real world, and connect with the people beside you. Being fully present is a rare opportunity, so seize it with both hands.

Remember, you are not alone in this. Look out for each other because, in the end, you are all in this together. Share your stories, lend a helping hand, and create a bond that will last a lifetime. The beauty of this camp lies not just in the picturesque landscapes but in the relationships, you build along the way.

Branch out of your comfort zone and your close circle of friends. Forge new connections with people and discover different perspectives. Embrace the diversity around you, and you’ll find that the tapestry of friendships woven at camp is rich and colourful.

The key to making the most of this experience is to live in the moment. Wandering Spirit isn’t just a school camp; it’s a portal to a world of possibilities. Don’t dwell on what you might be missing; focus on what you are gaining—a chance to embrace the time, learn new things, and cultivate a positive mindset.

So, for the soon-to-be wandering spirits, go forth with open hearts, curious minds, and the knowledge that the best stories are written in uncharted territories.

My heart overflows with gratitude for the luminous guidance I received on the Wandering Spirit Journey. The teacher’s unwavering dedication to our growth and well-being has touched us in ways words can scarcely convey. Entering the Wandering Spirit camp, our mentors’ wisdom resonated with newfound depth. Their teachings stretch far beyond the confines of the court and nest, weaving seamlessly into the fabric of our daily lives and the adventures awaiting us—their guidance like a gentle breeze pushing us in the right direction. I am sincerely grateful for Wandering Spirit and the opportunities it encapsulated.”
