Meet Margaret, a Year 10 boarder from Broome, who shares how her experience at St Hilda’s Perth boarding school<\/a> has prepared her for the real world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Can you share a memorable moment or experience that exemplifies the community and support you’ve experienced in the boarding house?<\/h2>\n

“In Year 7, I appreciated having a Year 11 buddy, as I felt I always had someone I could talk to and rely on; this really helped with my transition into the boarding house.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In Year 8, I moved to share a room with another Year 8 and two new Year 7 girls. Looking back on this time, sharing a room with these girls was a true highlight as I was able to step up and be a good role model for them.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In Year 9, I volunteered to help supervise some of the younger boarders’ socials. This memorable experience encouraged me to make new connections with the younger girls and give back to the community.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

How has your experience at the boarding house and St Hilda\u2019s helped prepare you for the future?<\/h2>\n

“Living in the boarding house has helped me prepare for the future and the real world, as I\u2019ve been in an environment that\u2019s accelerated my growth and maturity. It is a unique experience for a girl my age to experience living on their own without the presence of their parents. However, the boarding house staff’s support has been imperative to my comfort and development as a boarder.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

What advice would you give to other students from a regional town considering boarding at St Hilda’s?<\/h2>\n

“Moving away from home and being a boarder can be scary initially, but it\u2019s an inspiring environment full of new opportunities. I encourage you to get involved in sports or clubs to make friends, and don\u2019t be afraid to ask for help if you\u2019re homesick. The boarding house staff are always there to support you.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
