Our first few days of the school year\u00a0are always busy as we\u00a0adjust to the pace of life after a long break.\u00a0Behind the scenes\u00a0over the last few\u00a0weeks\u00a0we have been\u00a0preparing the school\u00a0to\u00a0welcome\u00a0new families to our Junior School,\u00a0Senior School and\u00a0Boarding and\u00a0supporting those students\u2019 transition to St Hilda\u2019s.<\/p>\n
It was with great celebration that we acknowledged the outstanding results of our 2020 graduates at our Senior School Academic\u00a0Assembly on Friday morning.\u00a0It\u2019s an honour and privilege to lead a team who are committed to each student\u2019s\u00a0individual\u00a0success.\u202fWe proudly accept second place in the WA\u00a0league tables, however we all know that\u00a0league tables only tell part of the story.<\/p>\n
While there is no doubting that exceptional teaching and learning is at the heart of outstanding results, other factors also come into play.\u00a0\u00a0Positive learning relationships are key.\u00a0When you bring together passionate and caring staff with highly motivated girls, the combination is explosive!<\/p>\n
Part of the benefit of a girls only education is that girls can express themselves and be themselves, without gender playing a role in their choices.\u202fEducational success comes through strong pastoral programs that build independence, self-belief, and security.\u00a0These foundations allow\u00a0girls to focus on learning.<\/p>\n
Our outstanding results are just one measure of success for St Hilda\u2019s. We believe that giving girls the platform to shine, no matter their passion,\u00a0will\u00a0ultimately\u00a0pay dividends.<\/p>\n
Many of us watched\u00a0history\u00a0when Amanda Gorman, a\u00a022-year-old,\u00a0National Youth Poet Laureate,\u00a0recite her poem \u2018The Hill We Climb\u2019\u00a0at President Biden\u2019s inauguration.\u00a0Her\u00a0poem is\u00a0a powerful\u00a0call to action focusing on themes of hope,\u00a0unity, healing and resilience –\u00a0themes that unite\u00a0a community and a country.<\/p>\n

if we are brave enough<\/p>\n
to be it,<\/p>\n
if we are brave enough<\/p>\n
to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n
We asked our girls,\u00a0\u201cwhen\u00a0your light shines brightest, what are you brave enough to see and what are you brave enough to be?\u201d<\/p>\n
A\u00a0thought provoking\u00a0question that is ageless and maybe one that we can all take time to ponder\u00a0as we commence a new year and new beginnings.<\/p>\n
