Our Junior School students are energetic, active and adventurous, and they need a uniform that reflects this and allows them to play and explore.

This is why, after thoughtful consideration and input from parents, teachers, and the girls themselves, we have updated our Junior School uniform.

New uniform items include:

  • Pale blue overblouse with crest and yellow piping
  • A grey skort
  • A grey skirt
  • Indigenous Bumblebee Polo
  • Reversible School/House bucket hat

Why we’re updating the uniform

Over recent years, families and staff have expressed a desire for a more comfortable uniform that better supports the way our girls learn and play. With this in mind, we have refined the Junior School uniform to:

  • allow greater freedom of movement
  • reduce unnecessary transitions between items
  • create stronger continuity from Junior through to Senior School
  • simplify purchasing for families
  • reflect our vibrant School identity

Supporting Active, Confident Learners

The introduction of the skort for our younger years reflects the way children naturally move—running, climbing, cartwheeling, swinging, and exploring. The skort allows girls to move freely and confidently, supporting our commitment to active learning.

From Year 5, students will transition to the grey skirt, which will continue through to Year 12. This continuity not only strengthens a sense of belonging but also offers practical benefits for families, including easier hand‑me‑downs and fewer new purchases when students enter the Senior School.

The newly designed Indigenous Bumblebee polo brings a strong sense of unity to our sporting programs and reflects our commitment to celebrating First Nations culture through meaningful design.

Looking Ahead

This is an exciting milestone in St Hilda’s ongoing journey. Our uniform is an important part of our identity, and these updates reflect a modern, active, and inclusive approach that aligns with the needs of today’s learners.

More than simply a wardrobe change, this update embraces who we are as a School: a warm, connected, forward‑looking community that places girls’ comfort, confidence, and learning at the heart of every decision.
