Academic Excellence, Personalised Pathways and Outstanding Outcomes for Girls

At St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls, academic excellence is about more than achieving outstanding results. It is about equipping every girl with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive at university, in the workplace and in a rapidly changing world.

As one of Perth’s leading independent girls’ schools, St Hilda’s combines strong academic outcomes with personalised support, evidence-informed teaching practices and a broad range of pathways designed to help every girl achieve her potential.

While many of our students pursue ATAR studies and gain entry to leading universities, we recognise that success looks different for every learner. Our academic programs, career guidance and pathway planning support girls in pursuing university, vocational, entrepreneurial and emerging career opportunities aligned to their strengths and aspirations.

As a proudly non-selective school, St Hilda’s consistently achieves outstanding academic results while nurturing excellence across community service, leadership, sport, music, the arts and cocurricular pursuits. Every girl is known, challenged and supported to shape an extraordinary future.

Why choose St Hilda's for academic excellence?

St Hilda’s is a leading independent girls’ school in Perth, offering strong ATAR results, personalised academic support, university and career pathway planning, evidence-informed teaching and opportunities for girls to excel across academics, leadership, entrepreneurship, sport and the arts.

Our Approach to Celebrating Academic Success

We intentionally choose not to name individual girls when celebrating Year 12 results, recognising that some girls do not wish for their personalised results to be publicly shared. We respect that these outcomes represent personal achievements rather than a competition, and we honour each girl’s right to privacy and agency.

By focusing on collective lift and cohort growth, we reinforce a culture where success is defined by progress, effort, and value added over time. This approach supports our girls’ wellbeing and ensures that achievement is celebrated in a way that aligns with our commitment to respect for all learners.

And, since 2022, when TISC ceased formally calculating schools’ median ATAR, St Hilda’s, along with other WA schools, has chosen not to publish a median ATAR due to inconsistencies in how schools determine this measure. However, we have continued to track our internal median each year as part of a broader approach to monitoring our girls’ growth and achievement. Importantly, our internal ATAR median has consistently placed St Hilda’s among the top schools in the state since ATAR was introduced in 2010.

 Our NAPLAN Results

While NAPLAN results are simply a snapshot of a student’s performance on a particular day, they do guide us in shaping St Hilda’s teaching and learning programs. NAPLAN is just one of many ways in which St Hilda’s uses data to track improved student outcomes.
