At St Hilda’s, we empower our students to become passionate advocates within their local communities and abroad. A wide range of initiatives offered by the School provide opportunities for our students to develop social awareness and realise the value and impact of our contribution. One of the School’s Community Service initiatives is our Junior School Lapathon.

As a result of the Lapathon, our Junior School students raised over $15,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities WA (RMHC WA) and ‘adopted a room’ to support families who travel to receive maternity, child, and adolescent healthcare in Perth.

The benefits of fundraising in a school environment

Students learn the value of helping others – They learn why support is needed, who benefits from the funds raised and how their actions can meaningfully contribute to someone else’s wellbeing.

Fundraising builds a strong sense of community – The whole school community is brought together, including students, staff and families, everyone has a role to play. It reminds students that when we work together we can achieve something truly significant.

It enhances student wellbeing and confidence – Taking part in fundraising activities gives students a sense of purpose and acts as a powerful reminder that every individual, no matter their age, can spark a positive change.

Fundraising events create memorable, joy-filled experiences – Activities like the Junior School Lapathon are a fun experience that students remember as a highlight of the school year.

Strengthens partnerships beyond the school gates – Fundraising efforts often involve local organisations, like Ronald McDonald House Charities, which expands awareness of the charity and demonstrates the strength of community collaboration.
