Call Out - Year Reps for 2026

We are enormously grateful to the hard work of the 2025 Year Representatives for each Year Group. Thank you to each of you for forwarding information, coordinating events and for welcoming new parents to the St Hilda’s Community.

If you would be interested in becoming a Year Rep for 2026 please contact Lizzie Warburton. We hope to have two per year in the Junior School and at least four per year in the Senior School.

If you feel that you could fulfil that role, perhaps with a friend, or you would like to know more about how the School will support you, please email Lizzie.warburton@sthildas.wa.edu.au.

Christmas Eve Nativity Service Help

We are seeking assistance from families to support our St Hilda’s Christmas Eve Service. The service will take place on Christmas Eve (Wednesday 24 December) from 3:30pm in our Chapel. It is a family-friendly service that tells the Nativity story through readings, prayers, singing, music, and, hopefully, acting it all out. If you, your daughter(s), or other members of your family are available and willing to participate by reading, playing an instrument, singing or dressing up as an angel, shepherd or wise man, please let Fr Philip (chaplain@sthildas.wa.edu.au) know, and he will be in contact with material well before the service. Let the St Hilda’s Community celebrate the Nativity story together in our Chapel on the Bay View Campus this Christmas.

亲爱的家庭

Welcome back to the start of another exciting term! It has been wonderful to see our Junior School girls return safe and refreshed after the holiday break. Time away from routines is so important; not just for rest, but for recharging our minds, reflecting, and allowing ourselves to switch off. We hope that everyone had the chance to enjoy quality time with family and friends, explore new experiences, and simply take a pause from the busyness of daily life. A well-rested mind and body set the stage for a successful and energised term ahead!

This week, our Junior Kindy and Kindergarten students enjoyed the Ocean Kindness Incursion, an engaging and interactive experience that encouraged the girls and boys to think deeply about caring for our oceans and the creatures that live within them. Through hands-on activities and fun learning, the students explored ways to be responsible, kind, and mindful about our impact on the environment. It was heartwarming to see our youngest learners so enthusiastic about making a difference and applying their understanding of kindness in such a tangible way.

This morning, our Year 3–6 students gathered in the St Hilda’s Whitby Chapel on the Senior School campus for a special St Hilda’s Day service. This year marked a new and successful way of celebrating, with the service providing a more intimate and reverent setting for our Junior School students to honour our patron saint and reflect on the values that unite our community. Families and siblings joined us for this memorable occasion. In a new addition to the celebration, our Year 6 students marked the end of their Junior School journey by cutting the St Hilda’s Day cake, just as our Year 12s do, symbolising their transition from one chapter to the next. Our sincere thanks to Father Philip for leading this meaningful service.

Looking ahead, we are also excited for the P&F Junior School Disco taking place on Saturday night. These events are always a highlight for our students and provide a wonderful opportunity for families to come together, celebrate, and share in the joy of community. We can’t wait to hear about the fun, dancing, and laughter that is sure to fill the Cortile. Events like these play an important role in fostering connections, building friendships, and creating happy memories for our girls.

As we settle into the rhythm of the new term, we encourage all students to carry the calm, energy, and focus gained over the holidays into their learning and daily interactions. Here’s to a term full of curiosity, kindness, and growth!

致以最美好的祝愿、

高中部主任致辞

亲爱的圣希尔达社区

Welcome to Term 4.

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break and is feeling ready for the final stretch of 2025. Over the holidays, my thoughts were with our Year 12 students as they undertook their final WACE practical examinations, a significant milestone in their academic journey.

Several enriching trips and tours took place during the break, offering students opportunities to explore areas of interest both locally and internationally. These included:

🗼 The French Tour
⛺ The Annual Cadet Region Camp
🗽 The USA STEM and Commerce Tour
🚣 Outdoor Education Sea Kayaking

A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated staff who coordinated and accompanied these experiences, ensuring our students were supported.

Term 4 promises to be a dynamic and fast-paced eight-week sprint, featuring a wide array of events and celebrations, including:

🌟 St Hilda’s Day
🎓 Year 12 Graduation and Valedictory Celebrations
🎨 JK–11 Art Exhibition
⛺ Year 7 Camp
🎭 The Year 7/8 Play
💼 Year 10 Work Experience
🥰 Community Service Day
🏆 Years 7–11 Presentation and Awards Ceremony

For a full list of events and further details, please refer to the school calendar available via the link 这里.

Despite the four-day week for students, it was filled with memorable moments. We honoured our Cadet Unit at their Dining In Night, celebrated the opening of our inaugural Year 12 Visual Arts and Design Showcase, and enjoyed the creativity and flair of the 2025 Fashion Parade.

We concluded the week with our annual Sports Assembly, recognising students who have entered the prestigious 24s and 30s IGSSA clubs, as well as those selected for state and national teams. The depth and breadth of sport at St Hilda’s is truly remarkable and a testament to the outstanding support and leadership provided by our Health and Physical Education Department.

This evening, we look forward to our annual Dance Choreographic Night. Since its introduction into the curriculum in 2021, Dance has flourished at St Hilda’s. Participation continues to grow through both curricular and cocurricular programs, and tonight’s performances will showcase the dedication, creativity, and passion our students have poured into their work throughout the year.

Cadets Shine at Annual Field Exercise

Over the Term 3 holidays, six cadets from the St Hilda’s Army Cadet Unit joined forces with cadets from across Western Australia for an eight-day camp at Bindoon Army Base. The Annual Field Exercise (AFX) is a key event in the cadet calendar, bringing together more than 550 participants to mark the culmination of the 2025 Cadet Development Continuum.

Throughout the camp, cadets competed in a range of skill-based challenges including first aid, observation, stretcher building, hutchie construction, radio procedures, knots and lashings, and parade drill. The combined unit from St Hilda’s Anglican Girls’ School and Guildford Grammar School proudly took first place in both Skill at Arms and Drill competitions — an outstanding achievement against some much larger units.

AFX25 was a memorable experience that offered both fun and challenge, with our cadets returning home with new skills, fresh perspectives, and lasting friendships.

Year 12 Visual Arts and Design Showcase

For many years, our Year 12 students have proudly exhibited their work as part of the whole school arts showcase. This year, we felt it was important to honour their creative achievements with a dedicated exhibition, providing them with a well-deserved spotlight during their final fortnight at school.

The exhibition is currently open in the PAC Foyer and will run until Friday, 24 October. The opening evening also served as a special occasion to announce our Exhibition Award recipients and the students selected to enter the prestigious West Australian Pulse Exhibition.

For Year 10s, selecting their subjects for Years 11 and 12 can feel daunting. That's why we do everything we can to make the process clearer and more supported for our girls. Yesterday, our Year 10 cohort took part in our Year 10 Course Information Day, hearing from a wide range of speakers about the pathways and opportunities available to them.Presenters included current Year 12 students who recently navigated the process, Old Scholars now at university who shared how their choices shaped their pathways, and representatives from Perth’s five major universities, who provided insights into the breadth of programs on offer. The day concluded with a university and course expo, where students explored subject options and spoke with teachers to learn more about each course.Visit the link in bio to learn more about the Study Pathways available to Year 11 and 12 students at St Hilda's 🔗#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #SubjectSelection #StudyPathways

Pilgrimage Walk of Joy 2026 ✝️Yesterday, St Hilda's was visited by The Right Reverend Hans Christiansen, Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Perth, on his four-day Pilgrimage Walk of Joy. The Pilgrimage Walk of Joy stops at Anglican Schools along the 90km journey, with schools hosting services and assemblies. During his stop at St Hilda's, Bishop Hans participated in a chapel service with our Year 7s and shared insights into his journey so far. Following the service, Bishop Hans continued his pilgrimage to the next stop at Christ Church Grammar School, joined by a group of St Hilda's students. The Pilgrimage comes to a close tonight at 6.00pm with a Eucharist Service at the last stop, St George's Cathedral. #StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #PilgrimageWalkofJoy #Pilgrimage

🌟 Extending Learning Beyond the School Day 🌟As a new Junior School cocurricular on offer this term, a group of students have started in the Young Doctors Anatomy Program, brought to St Hilda's by Alan Slater from Thinkways. In their most recent session, students stepped into the world of anatomy with a real heart dissection, working collaboratively to identify key structures including the ventricles, atria, valves and chordae tendineae. Their curiosity, teamwork and preparation were extremely impressive! While some initially found the new experience a little confronting, their resilience and willingness to take a moment before re-engaging were truly inspiring 👏Their journey continues with the respiratory system, as these future medical minds reflect on one key question: how do we breathe?#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #Anatomy #YoungDoctors

Embarking on the reading journey 📖At St Hilda’s, we are proud to partner with families to build strong, confident readers from the very beginning. Last night, our Pre Primary educators welcomed parents for an insightful session on how children learn to read and how best to support them at home. With a growing focus on vocabulary, comprehension, and reading for meaning, families were given practical strategies to guide their daughters through this important stage. From modelling unfamiliar words and encouraging children to ask questions, to supporting blending when sounding out words, the session highlighted how small, consistent actions can make a big impact. Research shows that reading at home at least four nights a week significantly strengthens progress, and meaningful conversation plays a key role in developing understanding.Parents also received their daughter’s reading folder, including consonant-vowel-consonant words, sight words, and a home reader, tools designed to support independent learning and build strong foundations. As our educators shared, “little words with a strong brain grow into big words,” reinforcing that reading is a skill developed over time through practice and confidence. We look forward to seeing our girls grow as curious, capable, and independent learners. 💙#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #ReadingJourney #Literacy

Over the weekend, The Addams Family The Musical cast and crew enjoyed a much‑loved PJ Rehearsal Day! 🖤🩶As our cast and crew know, Ugg boots, slippers and slides are usually off limits on the Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre stage, so this was a rare chance to jump straight out of bed and onto the stage. With just five weeks until Production Week, the team has been dedicating full weekends to bringing this show to life, and their focus, energy and commitment have been exceptional. We can’t wait for audiences to see what they’ve created. Join us on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June for a wickedly wonderful season!Book your tickets via the link in bio 🔗

Training in action 🪖Over the weekend, St Hilda’s Cadets were out in the field for a practical exercise, building leadership, teamwork and confidence while applying their skills in a supportive and challenging environment. These termly field exercises, combined with weekly parade nights, form the broader Cadet program. These experiences allow our St Hilda's Cadets to build confidence, discipline and leadership. As Western Australia’s first all-female school cadet unit, we are proud to provide our girls with opportunities to explore their interests and develop lifelong skills that empower them well beyond the classroom.#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #Cadets #SHASCUCadets #AustralianArmyCadets

Last week, St Hilda’s had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from Kowloon Rhenish School in Hong Kong. Our student visitors travelled to Perth as part of their overseas study tour, giving them the opportunity to experience school life in Australia firsthand. During their visit, the students explored both our Junior and Senior School campuses, where they took part in a range of engaging workshops led by St Hilda’s staff. These sessions offered insight into classroom learning and the vibrant community that makes up our school.#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #OverseasStudyTour #KowloonRhenishSchool

First regatta of the season 🚣‍♀️The rowing season is officially underway, with our crews taking to the water for the first IGSSA Rowing Regatta. It was a fantastic day of racing and a great opportunity for students to put their training into practice. We are exceptionally proud of our girls. 24 of our 27 regatta entries placed on the podium, resulting in an outstanding overall second-place finish!Across the regatta, our rowers demonstrated strong teamwork, determination and focus, supporting one another and racing with pride.A positive start to the season and an exciting glimpse of what’s to come as the crews continue to build confidence and experience on the water.#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #IGSSARowing #Rowing
