Empowering Young Minds: A Partnership with Dr Judith Locke and Dr Danielle Einstein
This week, St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls was honoured to welcome two leading child and adolescent wellbeing experts, Dr Judith Locke and Dr Danielle Einstein, for a series of transformative workshops and lectures.
Dr Judith Locke, a clinical psychologist and former teacher, is renowned across Australia and New Zealand for her work in schools, workplaces, and early learning centres. Her sessions focus on equipping parents, educators, and students with the tools to foster resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Joining her was Dr Danielle Einstein, a highly respected clinical psychologist with nearly 30 years of experience. Dr Einstein specialises in the relationship between technology use and mental health, offering powerful insights into managing anxiety in an increasingly digital world.
The program, grounded in robust research, aims to help young people develop healthy coping strategies for everyday fears and worries. Parents were invited to attend an engaging session aligned with the content delivered to students, ensuring a united, school-wide approach to minimising stress and building resilience.
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Dr. Locke, every family received a copy of her acclaimed book The Bonsai Student. This resource supports parents in guiding their children to become more independent, confident, and emotionally resilient. If you have not yet received your copy, please contact enrol@sthildas.wa.edu.au.
Key principles from The Bonsai Student include:
- Responsibility – Fostering self-reliance by encouraging children to take ownership of their actions and decisions.
- Respect – Promoting respect for self and others, valuing different perspectives and setting healthy boundaries.
- Resourcefulness – Building problem-solving skills and creativity to empower children to navigate life’s challenges.
- Resilience – Allowing children to experience setbacks to develop strength and adaptability in adversity.
At St Hilda’s, we are committed to supporting every girl’s holistic development, including empowering families with expert-led tools and strategies.
