Designing the Future. Leading with Purpose.

At St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls in Perth, education prepares your daughter not only for examinations, but for the world she will inherit and shape.

While we continue to achieve strong academic and ATAR outcomes, we recognise that knowledge alone is no longer enough. In a world shaped by artificial intelligence, rapid technological advancement and global change, girls need to think critically, solve meaningful problems, collaborate strategically and respond to change with confidence.

As a leading private Anglican girls’ school in Western Australia, we see this as a responsibility.

This is why we created ESSTEAM™.

What is ESSTEAM™?

ESSTEAM™ stands for an Entrepreneurial mindset through the lens of Sustainability using Science, Technology, English, the Arts and Mathematics within a purposeful cross-curricular framework.

It is not about producing entrepreneurs. It is about equipping your daughter with the skills and mindset required for the future. Through ESSTEAM™, she develops critical thinking, creativity, resilience, collaboration and strategic problem solving, regardless of the pathway she chooses.

ESSTEAM™ integrates disciplines rather than teaching them in isolation. Your daughter applies knowledge across subjects to investigate real-world challenges and design sustainable solutions.

The program is underpinned by the Young Entrepreneurs of WA Framework, providing a structured and research-informed foundation for enterprise education. This ensures clarity, progression and measurable capability development from primary through to senior years.

ESSTEAM™ is one of the largest and most comprehensive school-based entrepreneurship programs in Australia, spanning Years 3 to 9, with a dedicated Year 10 elective for students seeking deeper challenge.

A Developmental Journey from Curiosity to Capability

Entrepreneurial thinking begins early at St Hilda’s.

From Year 1, our Units of Curiosity introduce cross-curricular inquiry, encouraging girls to ask meaningful questions and explore big ideas across disciplines. These units are embedded within ESSTEAM™, ensuring curiosity becomes a habit of thinking rather than a standalone experience.

From Years 3 to 9, ESSTEAM™ develops in depth and intention, with a dedicated Year 10 elective available for students seeking further challenge. As your daughter progresses, she moves from guided exploration to independent innovation, applying knowledge with increasing strategic awareness and leadership.

The Entrepreneurial Skillset for the Future

Entrepreneurship at St Hilda’s is about developing adaptable thinkers and principled leaders.

Through ESSTEAM™, your daughter learns to:

  • Think critically and analyse complexity
  • Generate and refine innovative ideas
  • Plan strategically and manage projects
  • Adapt when circumstances change
  • Collaborate with purpose
  • Demonstrate resilience
  • Create value for herself and her community

These capabilities prepare her for diverse pathways including medicine, engineering, law, sustainability, research, design, the arts and enterprise.

The ESSTEAM™ Framework

Your daughter’s learning is shaped by six interconnected pillars:

  • Entrepreneurial Skills
  • Design Thinking
  • Authentic Project-Based Learning
  • Sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
  • The Work of Female Innovators
  • Industry, Government, Community and Tertiary Partnerships

This framework ensures innovation is purposeful, ethical and measurable.

Why ESSTEAM™ Matters

Women remain underrepresented in entrepreneurship, innovation and STEM leadership globally.

By intentionally developing entrepreneurial capability from primary school onwards, St Hilda’s expands what is possible for your daughter.

Through ESSTEAM™, she builds confidence not just in what she knows, but in what she can create.

We are not simply preparing her to enter the future.
We are preparing her to shape it.
