St Hilda’s Meal Support for Homelessness

At St Hilda’s, we are committed to developing compassionate, socially responsible individuals who understand the importance of giving back to the community.

As part of our curriculum, students engage in compulsory community service hours, allowing them to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

One of the key initiatives is our Meal Support program for homelessness, which has become a cornerstone of our school’s social responsibility efforts. Many of our staff, parents, and students cooked hot meals and baked sweet treats for the Perth Homeless Support Group (PHSG). Staff then transported this food and served approximately 200 people in East Perth.

Through this program, students prepare and serve meals to individuals experiencing homelessness, offering not only food but also a sense of dignity and care.

The program helps students develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable members of society and fosters empathy, teamwork, and leadership skills. It’s an opportunity for students to step outside the classroom and actively contribute to their community, reinforcing the values of compassion and social justice.

The importance of community service at St Hilda’s extends beyond just fulfilling hours; it’s about instilling a lifelong commitment to supporting others.

By participating in initiatives like the Meal Support program, our students learn that even small acts of kindness can have a profound ripple effect, fostering a stronger, more connected society.
