Year 10 Boarding Bursary
Do you know a girl who would thrive boarding at St Hilda’s, but may not have the means to attend?
Applications are now open for the June Johnston Memorial Scholarship and the Women in Leadership Scholarship which are needs-based boarding bursaries for rural, regional or remote students (external) entering Year 10 in 2026.
These bursaries are awarded to students with strong academic potential who demonstrate excellence in an area of interest such as music, sport, dance, drama or community service. Each bursary covers 100% of tuition and boarding fees and is tenable through to graduation.
If you know a family who could benefit from this life-changing opportunity, please share this link:

Planning for 2026 – Enrolments and Withdrawals
As we begin planning for the 2026 school year, we kindly remind families who have not yet enrolled younger siblings to please contact Admissions at enrol@sthildas.wa.edu.au as soon as possible to secure a place. A number of year groups are already full or nearing capacity, so we encourage you to reach out early to avoid disappointment.
If your family is not planning to continue next year, we ask that you notify the school by emailing principalsoffice@sthildas.wa.edu.au or enrol@sthildas.wa.edu.au and complete a Notification of Withdrawal form. As outlined in our Business Conditions, one terms notice is required, so we ask that this be submitted no later than Friday 26 September.
Early advice is greatly appreciated and helps us support a smooth transition for all students.

Junior School News
From the Director of Junior School
Dear Families,
This week, our Junior School has been alive with creativity, focus, and a touch of stage magic!
Our Year 6 students are deep in rehearsal mode as they prepare for their much-anticipated production next week. The energy in the PAC is electric (which helps when there’s no heating!) as lines are polished, songs rehearsed, and costumes fitted. These performances are a wonderful culmination of teamwork, confidence-building, and creative expression—skills that go far beyond the stage. We can’t wait to welcome you to the show and celebrate the talents of our senior Junior School students.
Meanwhile, many of our budding mathematicians took part in the Australian Maths Competition this week. This national event challenges students to think critically and creatively, applying their mathematical understanding in new and exciting ways. We’re proud of all who participated and embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and resilience.
Finally, our Pre Primarys celebrated their 100th day of school! Mrs Brazier and Mrs Bihler outdid themselves with all of the 100-related activities for the girls to enjoy!
As a new initiative, the Junior School has published a term calendar overview so you can be aware of upcoming important dates for your diary. Please see the school app to download your copy.
In addition, should your living arrangements have changed, please let the school know so we can update our database and ensure no communication is missed.
As always, thank you for your continued encouragement at home. Whether it’s helping with lines for the play or talking through a tricky maths problem, your support helps our students shine.
Best wishes,
Nicole Adams
Director of Junior School

Senior School News
From the Director of Senior School
Dear St Hilda’s Community,
This week, our campus has felt a little quieter with our Year 10 students away on their Wooleen Expedition—one of the standout experiences in St Hilda’s outdoor education journey. The program takes place at Wooleen Station, a remarkable half-a-million-acre property in Western Australia’s Murchison district, located 650km north-east of Perth.
Renowned for its semi-arid landscape and commitment to ecological restoration, Wooleen offers a unique and challenging environment that encourages students to adapt, reflect, and grow. Over seven days, students embark on a bushwalking journey through breathtaking terrain, learning firsthand about sustainable land management, the delicate balance of ecosystems, and the impact of human activity on the environment. Their experience is further enriched by participating in land care projects and engaging in a Wajarri cultural session, deepening their understanding of the land’s significance and heritage.
No doubt, the comforts of home—and a warm shower—will be a welcome return!
To round off the week, this evening a group of dedicated students will take part in the Anglicare Sleep Out, setting an ambitious goal to raise vital funds for youth homelessness. Swapping school bags for sleeping bags, they’ll spend the night in the stadium under the stars, gaining insight into the realities faced by many people in Perth.
Wishing everyone a safe and restful weekend, and best of luck to those involved in IGSSA Dance and the Year 9–11 Production rehearsals.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Andrea McNally
Deputy Principal / Director of Senior School

Anglicare WA School Sleepout - TONIGHT
Tonight, 20 of our Year 11 students will participate in the Anglicare WA School Sleepout, held at Optus Stadium. This initiative involves spending the night outdoors to raise awareness about the critical issue of youth homelessness in Western Australia. The purpose of our participation is to generate support and secure sponsorships for Street Connect, an outreach program delivered by Anglicare WA that provides essential assistance to young people in such situations.
Youth homelessness in Western Australia remains a pressing issue, with around 2,000 young people aged 12–24 experiencing homelessness. Contributing factors include the lack of affordable housing, rising rental prices, and limited income support, forcing some people to spend up to 94% of their income on rent.
Anglicare WA is a respected not-for-profit organisation that delivers a broad range of social and community services across the state. Its mission is to support individuals and families through periods of hardship, offering meaningful assistance and a pathway towards improved wellbeing. Street Connect, a key youth service under Anglicare WA, operates as a mobile team working directly with at-risk young people in Perth. The program offers access to emergency accommodation, health services, counselling, and long-term support to help young people transition from crisis to stability.
By supporting this event, we contribute to a broader community effort to address the urgent issue of youth homelessness. We invite you to support this important cause by making a donation, sharing information, or simply taking time to understand the challenges faced by vulnerable youth in our community.

Volunteer Call-Out: Mid-Autumn Festival at St Hilda’s | 志愿者招募:St Hilda's 全校中秋庆典活动
As part of our Culture Connect initiative, we’re excited to launch a new cultural event in the Senior School — the Mid-Autumn Festival!
Celebrated across many East and Southeast Asian cultures, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time to gather with family and friends, give thanks, and admire the full moon. It is widely observed in countries such as China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and more — each with their own unique customs, foods, and traditions.
In China, families share mooncakes and light colourful lanterns; in Vietnam, children take part in parades and lion dances; in Korea, Chuseok is marked with traditional games, rice cakes, and ancestral rituals. Though traditions vary, the festival is united by themes of gratitude, unity, and celebration.
On the evening of Thursday 25 September, the Senior School Hall will be transformed for our very own Mid-Autumn Festival celebration — complete with activities, food trucks, cultural stalls, and a lantern procession. Junior School and Senior School students and families are invited.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help run stalls and activities on the night. If you would like to be involved in this vibrant celebration of culture and community, please contact Katherine Zhao at jiemiaofly@hotmail.com.
Come be a part of this special event at St Hilda’s — we’d love your help!
