St Hilda’s 2025 NAPLAN Results

St Hilda’s 2025 NAPLAN Results – A Reflection of Strong Foundations and Sustained Growth

Parents of girls in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will have received their daughter’s 2025 NAPLAN results last week. These assessments provide a point-in-time snapshot of foundational skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and numeracy. Designed to measure literacy and numeracy standards across Australia, NAPLAN plays a role in helping schools and families understand how our girls are tracking against national benchmarks.

At St Hilda’s, our 2025 NAPLAN results continue to show strength, with student performance consistently above state averages. This is a testament to our strategic focus on foundational literacy and numeracy, our commitment to academic mastery, and the deep expertise of our teaching teams.

We view NAPLAN as just one of many tools used to monitor our girls’ progress. It captures performance on the day, not potential, and contributes to our broader understanding of each girl’s learning journey. We use this data alongside classroom assessments, ongoing observation, and other academic touchpoints to track growth over time and ensure every girl is known, supported and challenged.

Our academic teams continue to evolve our programs based on data insights, ensuring that every girl develops the strong foundations she needs to thrive, now and into the future.

Year 10 Boarding Bursary

Do you know a girl who would thrive boarding at St Hilda’s, but may not have the means to attend?

Applications are now open for the June Johnston Memorial Scholarship and the Women in Leadership Scholarship which are needs-based boarding bursaries for rural, regional or remote students (external) entering Year 10 in 2026.

These bursaries are awarded to students with strong academic potential who demonstrate excellence in an area of interest such as music, sport, dance, drama or community service. Each bursary covers 100% of tuition and boarding fees and is tenable through to graduation.

If you know a family who could benefit from this life-changing opportunity, please share this link:

初中部主任致辞

亲爱的家庭

This week brought a beautiful blend of reflection and celebration in our Junior School.

On Monday, our Year 12 students returned to Chidley for a special visit, one filled with nostalgia, laughter, and heartfelt memories. As they prepare to embark on their final term at St Hilda’s, it was deeply moving to see them reconnect with the spaces and staff who shaped their early years. For our younger students, it was a powerful reminder that every learning moment today is part of a much bigger journey. The highlight of the visit was the Pre Primary class singing the School song with the Year 12s. For many girls who joined us in the early years, it was truly where their journey began, and while now flowers, they were ‘once a tiny seed’.

Year 12 Chidley Visit
Semester 2 Student Councillors

We also had the pleasure of welcoming this Semester’s Student Councillors and presented them with their badges and vests. Congratulations girls!

In the spirit of challenge and growth, a number of our students participated in the Maths Olympiad this week. This national competition encourages creative problem-solving and perseverance, skills we value deeply in our learning culture. We’re proud of all who took part and gave it their best.

As I previously referenced, we are focusing on strong beginnings. To that end, ensuring your daughter arrives to school on time is essential in creating a calm, focused start to avoid missing valuable learning time. In addition, collecting your daughter in a timely matter at the end of the day is as equally important. Should you need support in getting to school on time, or collection at the end of the day, please contact Reception.

Thank you for your continued support as we nurture confident, compassionate learners, ready to take on the world, one step at a time.

致以最美好的祝愿、

尼科尔-亚当斯

This week, our Year 6s held a Migration Museum where they brought in artefacts connected to their family history and shared migration stories based on interviews they conducted for their HASS assessment. We had a great turnout, with lots of family and friends coming through to support the event.

高中部主任致辞

亲爱的圣希尔达社区

Saturday evening’s Concerto Night showcased the talents of 12 soloists from the Graduating Class of 2025. The performances were accompanied by our Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Sainty Jazz, Soul Band, and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. This year, soloists selected a variety of pieces that reflected the diverse range of performance opportunities available at St Hilda’s, from classical, funk and musical theatre. The contemporary repertoire highlighted soloists in their chosen instrument, which ranged from bass guitar, vocals, classical guitar, saxophone and drums.

I would like the extend my gratitude to Andrea Black, Matt Kidd and Rex Carr-White.  Behind the scenes appreciation to Kate MacKinnon, Stacey Litchfield and Belinda Callaway, in addition to the many peripatetic teachers for their support of all the musicians.

It was also a delightful to welcome back 2024 Music Prefect, Jenny Yuan, as our MC for the evening.

Year 12 Chidley Visit

With their final months as St Hilda’s students upon them, this week we commenced our staged farewell to our Year 12 students. Kicking off with our Year 12s who attended the Junior School, these students popped back for a memorable trip to our Chidley campus on Monday. They reminisced about their primary school years, visited some of their former teachers, and shared words of encouragement with the current Junior School students.

In addition, further highlighted scattered throughout the week ranged from:

  • School Photo days for Music, Sport, Clubs & Committees
  • Year 9-11 Production Rehearsals
  • IGSSA Sport Trials
  • Foodie Fiesta with Hale School
  • House Quiz
  • CCGS hosted a combined parade for our Cadet Units
  • Hale School kindly hosted our Year 7 cohort for an afternoon of activities,
  • We had our first athletics meet for the term.

To conclude the week, we welcomed the CCGS Prefect Group to Assembly for our annual prefect battle. The groups participated in some games for the audience to enjoy and shared the pre-recorded lip sync battle footage.

And finally, as we head into the weekend, I’d like to wish our Year 10 cohort a safe and wonderful Outdoor Education Program at Wooleen Station. The cohort depart early tomorrow morning.

Have a lovely weekend.

Anglicare WA School Sleepout

On Friday 8 August, 20 of our Year 11 students will participate in the Anglicare WA School Sleepout, held at Optus Stadium. This initiative involves spending the night outdoors to raise awareness about the critical issue of youth homelessness in Western Australia. The purpose of our participation is to generate support and secure sponsorships for Street Connect, an outreach program delivered by Anglicare WA that provides essential assistance to young people in such situations.

Youth homelessness in Western Australia remains a pressing issue, with around 2,000 young people aged 12–24 experiencing homelessness. Contributing factors include the lack of affordable housing, rising rental prices, and limited income support, forcing some people to spend up to 94% of their income on rent.

Anglicare WA is a respected not-for-profit organisation that delivers a broad range of social and community services across the state. Its mission is to support individuals and families through periods of hardship, offering meaningful assistance and a pathway towards improved wellbeing. Street Connect, a key youth service under Anglicare WA, operates as a mobile team working directly with at-risk young people in Perth. The program offers access to emergency accommodation, health services, counselling, and long-term support to help young people transition from crisis to stability.

By supporting this event, we contribute to a broader community effort to address the urgent issue of youth homelessness. We invite you to support this important cause by making a donation, sharing information, or simply taking time to understand the challenges faced by vulnerable youth in our community.

It’s been a busy week for our Year 10 Art and Design students! Year 10 Living With Design and Visual Arts students immersed themselves in Perth’s vibrant creative scene this week with excursions to UWA and the Art Gallery of WA, plus a walking street art tour. From exploring Perth’s hidden artworks to participating in workshops in university design studios, these experiences sparked curiosity, encouraged creativity, and gave students the opportunity to engage with art in meaningful, real world contexts, while envisioning their own creative futures. #StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #VisualArts #Design #AGWA

Our Years 7 and 8 students recently took on the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition, sharpening their problem-solving skills through innovative challenges 💡Designed around unique three-stage tasks, the CAT competition encourages students to develop and refine algorithms, applying them to increasingly complex data sets. This competition was a fantastic opportunity to build critical thinking, resilience, and creativity in action. We’re so proud of our students' efforts! 👏#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #MathsCompetition

At the start of this year, we introduced a new approach to the images we share on social media, carefully designed to better protect our girls in this ever-evolving digital world. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with support from parents and educators not only within our own community, but across the state, nationally and globally. While families may still recognise their own daughter or her friends through familiar details, like posture, hair, features or context, these images are not easily identifiable to a wider public audience.Rather than sharing clear, full front facing images or full names, that could be copied, manipulated or used to identify a child on social media, we capture moments through movement, side profiles, over the shoulder angles, hands in action and wider scenes that tell the story of school life. It’s not about removing connection. It’s about reducing risk, while continuing to celebrate the everyday moments that matter.#StHildas #StudentWellbeing #ChildSafety #DigitalResponsibility #PrivacyFirst #OnlineSafety #DigitalWellbeing #DigitalCitizenship

Eight teams, one jam-packed day of problem solving at Murdoch University 👩‍🔬Last week, our Year 10 students participated in the National Science and Engineering Challenge. Teams spent the day engaged in a series of hands on challenges, including building fish traps, wind turbines, eco houses and bridges, where they used engineering principles to design, test and improve solutions to problems. Competitions like the National Science and Engineering Challenge are a wonderful opportunity for our students to spark curiosity, develop confidence and deepen their interest in STEM pathways for the future.#StHildas #ExtraordinaryFutures #NationalScienceandEngineeringChallenge #STEM
